During an interview with Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. CEO Strauss Zelnick, he provided more details about the future of the popular video game franchise Grand Theft Auto (GTA).

With GTA VI in the picture, Zelnick discussed how AI will shape the gaming industry's future as a whole. He hinted that GTA VI will feature using AI to create more realistic game worlds, characters, and storylines.

What is the role of AI in GTA 6 NPCs

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to be one of the most groundbreaking video games ever made. One significant aspect that makes GTA 6 stand out is its use of artificial intelligence (AI). This means the player's choices and decisions will have real consequences in the game world, creating a more engaging experience.

Here are some of the roles of AI in GTA 6

  1. Dynamic NPC Interactions

Due to the use of generative AI, NPC interactions in GTA 6 are expected to be more dynamic and engaging than in previous games. This AI gives NPCs unique personalities, as seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Instead of predictable NPCs, players would encounter characters that feel like real people, which makes the game experience more enjoyable and unpredictable.

  1. Playable protagonists

According to rumors, GTA 6 may feature two playable protagonists, Jason and Lucia, and the AI technology used in the game would create a more realistic and engaging experience.

While one player controls one of the protagonists, the other may be controlled by AI, making decisions and acting independently rather than following the player around like a random NPC.

This GTA 6 NPC AI-powered protagonist may be able to interact with the game world more naturally and engagingly.

  1. Driving mechanics

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) can help in creating more realistic AI-based traffic in games. In this case, cars can be programmed to make mistakes, follow traffic rules, and drive more naturally and less predictably than in previous games. This can enhance the driving experience and make it more engaging.

Implementing AI can also encourage players to be more cautious and careful drivers, adding an extra layer of tension and strategy to the game. Moreover, using AI can make police chases more challenging and exciting, thus adding an element of risk and suspense to the game that can keep players engaged.

During his recent comments, Zelnick spoke positively about the potential of AI to improve video games concerning NPC behavior.

While the extent to which AI in GTA 6 will be used remains to be seen, he highlights the growing interest in using AI to enhance gaming experiences. In fact, modders are already using AI neural networks to breathe new life into NPCs in existing games.

Gamers are looking forward to the release of the new GTA game, and there is a lot of speculation and anticipation in the gaming community. Rockstar has not revealed much information about the game, and although there are rumors circulating, nothing is confirmed until an official announcement is made.

The release of the upcoming trailer is highly anticipated, and it is hoped to clarify what to expect from the game. In the meantime, gamers are advised to be patient for the official reveal of the game's details.
