With the next big episode launching on October 8, the week is poised to be a fulfilling one for Destiny 2 players whose focus returns to Fikrul and his Scorn.
Destiny 2 has announced that the Episode will lack a major feature, dividing the gaming community along contrasting preferences. Meanwhile, the change in question isn't a one-off change. The game's devs have decided it'll become the norm through Episode: Heresy.
The Change
Destiny 2's weapon crafting feature has always divided the gaming community, like a number of other changes. On the one hand, players are excited about being able to readily craft the weapon once they unlock a pattern. On the flip side, players defer the feature because it eliminates the necessity of the gear chase, which has been a significant part of the Destiny 2 experience. The devs seem to agree with the latter camp and would take out the episodic weapon crafting feature, going forward.
The new change restores the value of the gear chase, as players can experience the excitement of chasing specific rolls of the Brave Arsenal weapons from Destiny 2: Into the Light again. Additionally, Episode: Revenant will bring reprised versions of all Garden of Salvation weapons for Destiny 2 players.
With the new gear, players can experience new perks to chase while the Ancient Gospel hand cannon now hits with Void damage. Additionally, once a player completely unlocks a weapon, they can craft customized versions using the perks they want as they unlock various patterns on the gear.
With the new release, players won't only find these weapons inside Garden of Salvation. They can also visit Hawthorne in the Tower to pick up a quest that awards a Deepsight version weekly.
Meanwhile, episode-specific weapons will now only be earned through drops and rewards from activities. Other changes teased about the new episode's release included major buffs coming to Titan classes as Episode Revenant launches this week. That pushes them closer to the tank role more than ever before.
Destiny 2 Features and Highlights
In a highly immersive story, Destiny 2 players take up the character of a Guardian and defender of the Last City of humanity. The ultimate mission involves looking to the stars to resist the darkness in a solar system besieged by infamous villains.
The Bungie-developed game is available on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5, PS4, PC, Stadia, and Xbox One. Since its August 2017 release, Destiny 2 has gone through episodes of Lightfall, Shadowkeep, The Witch Queen, Forsaken, Beyond Light, and now Revenant.
Final Remarks
Destiny 2's devs are planning extra changes to the core experience, including taking out the popular episodic weapon crafting from Episode Revenant. Developer Bungie implemented the change to improve the game's gear chase feel. Destiny 2: Episode Revenant was released earlier this week with new and returning features alongside a reformed plot.
