Even though the Dark Souls series is well-known among gamers, some were hesitant to purchase it because FromSoftware's action RPGs were frequently regarded as being extremely challenging and requiring a lot of time and skill to complete.  This meant that, despite the continued success of games like Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne, no one could have predicted Elden Ring's financial success. Elden Ring outperformed Dark Souls 3's previous sales record in its first month of release. Elden Ring has since produced consistently excellent sales numbers, staying at the top of the charts for weeks and months after its release. In light of the fact that Elden Ring's Steam player count began to decline after debut, fans may have anticipated a slight decline in the number of copies of the RPG being sold. However, it seems that even now, more than six months after the game's initial release, many people are still eager to go out on an adventure in the Lands Between. According to Bandai Namco, Elden Ring had shipped 16.6 million copies globally as of the end of June. Although many of these sales were made in the first few months after Elden Ring's release, the fact that it is still generating millions of dollars in sales six months later demonstrates how well-liked the title is. Elden Ring's sales stats have already more than tripled those of FromSoftware's last game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which had been released in early 2019 and had already sold 5 million copies by July 2020. Because FromSoftware has a reputation for creating high-quality games, it's possible that Elden Ring continues to sell well. Alternatively, it's possible that the game's open environment and other aspects make it far more welcoming to new players. In any case, compared to the developer's prior RPG releases, the most recent FromSoftware RPG has generated an unprecedented volume of sales. Some even estimate that Elden Ring will have sold 20 million copies by the end of the year. Elden Ring's sales appear to be in danger of declining in the near future as time goes on and new games enter the market.  With rumors abounding regarding potential Elden Ring DLC, the revelation of some additional game content may be sufficient to persuade those who had not yet made up their minds to embark on the journey to become Elden Lord.
