Breaking down how to unlock a Care Package in MW2 beta!
In the ever-evolving field that is the FPS genre, Call of Duty has remained a constant in delivering fast-paced and frantic multiplayer gameplay. Aside from the unique customization that is the Gunsmith and Perk system that gives you an edge over the competition, CoD has given players in-game rewards known as killstreaks that reward players who chain together consistent kills with advanced weaponry that can turn the tide of battle, including Care Packages. Here’s what you need to know on how to call in and unlock a Care Package in Modern Warfare 2.
Unlocking and Calling in a Care Package
You can unlock and call in a care package in one of two ways; the first way is earning an in-game five-player killstreak. The other method is if you prefer using scorestreaks, you must earn 625 points without dying to be rewarded with the Care Package streak.
Fans of Call of Duty know plenty about the Care Package killstreak. First introduced in 2009’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, wracking up several kills in a row would grant the Care Package. Equipping the Care Package will give you a throwable flare that, when placed down on the floor, will airdrop a package with a random killstreak.
However, as CoD has evolved, some of the newer titles have changed the killstreak formula to scorestreaks. This rewards players who play the objective and assist their team with points that will lead to streaks should they earn enough score without dying. The Care Package is a 625-point score streak that is rewarded through playing and assisting.
To use the Care Package, make sure you have it equipped in one of the three streak slots by going to the “Weapons” tab, hitting “Killstreaks” and selecting Care Package. You can also toggle between killstreak and scorestreak in the same menu. Pro-tip; equipping Hardline as one of your perks will reduce the kill count needed to call in a Care Package by one, therefore, requiring you to earn a four-player killstreak. If you prefer scorestreaks, Hardline will reduce the number of points needed for the Care Package by 125, meaning you need 500 points for the streak.
