Hack-and-slash gamers sure love their action raw, and that is certainly the case for the Lollipop Chainsaw community. Ever since its release, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has stirred up conversations regarding potential censorship. It's not surprising as the very appeal of the franchise is its gore and violence.

Dragami Games president Yoshimi Yasuda has now come out to address these concerns and debunk what he calls "fake news" surrounding the remastered cult classic. Let's see what the gist is all about.

No Censorship in Sight

Yasuda has stepped up to express his disappointment over false information being spread by some influencers and journalists. Contrary to rumors, he clarified in a post on X that the new RePOP mode was not proposed as a censored alternative, nor was there any negotiation to keep the original mode uncensored.

“It is unfortunate that some influencers and journalists are spreading fake news such as that I proposed RePOP mode as a censored mode and negotiated to make Original mode non-censored,” Yasuda posted.

“The fact is that we received ESRB approval for the game specifications that you are currently playing, applied to platforms, and received release approval from all platforms without receiving any modification instructions.”

This statement addresses the Lollipop Chainsaw censorship concerns, assuring fans that the game remains true to its original vision. The ESRB has maintained the game's Mature rating, citing blood and gore, drug references, and intense violence—just like the 2012 original.

Meanwhile, some players have noticed changes in Juliet's movements and physics.  Yasuda also addressed this, attributing the differences to the game's transition from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 5. According to him, this shift necessitated the use of a new physics plugin, KawaiiPhysics, as the original physics engine was incompatible with UE5.

"The behavior of the physics engine was caused by misconfigured parameters, and we will promptly correct it," Yasuda assured fans. This explains why some players felt that Juliet's infamous "jiggle physics" seemed toned down in certain scenes.

Addressing Launch Issues and Player Feedback

The Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP developer didn't stop at denying censorship claims. Yasuda also addressed various issues that players have reported since the game's launch, including:

  1. Regional pricing discrepancies
  2. Bugs and glitches, including audio problems and crashes

"We agree with the points raised by game users," Yasuda stated, "and we will promptly adjust the prices." He then promised swift action to fix bugs. According to him, the team is also considering setting options and optimizations to improve the overall gaming experience.

Fixes and Improvements on the Horizon

Despite the initial hiccups, Dragami Games appears to be committed to improving Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. Yasuda's transparent communication with the community shows the dedication to preserving the status of the original release even as it is adapted for modern platforms.
As the team works on addressing these issues, fans can look forward to a more polished experience that stays true to the uncensored, over-the-top action that made the original Lollipop Chainsaw a cult favorite.
