In response to the explosive growth of cloud gaming services in recent years, Logitech has announced plans for a handheld cloud gaming device. This week, Logitech announced a collaboration with Tencent, a major Chinese gaming company, to create and market a "cloud gaming portable under the Logitech G brand. Later this year is when the device is expected to be released. This dedicated cloud gaming handheld, according to Logitech, would support "several" cloud gaming services. Negotiations to bring such services to the device are now underway with both Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now; it's not yet clear if Google Stadia would be included. At this point, it is unknown exactly how this device would function, including what operating system it will employ; a modified version of Android would undoubtedly make the most sense. The Logitech G brand is most recognized for its PC gaming endeavors as well as a few gaming console items. Undoubtedly, the entire purpose of cloud gaming was to eliminate the requirement for specialized hardware for games. To that aim, many of the currently available cloud gaming-focused solutions are customized controllers and mounts, such the Gamesir X2 shown above. Sony just announced a unique PlayStation controller for the iPhone. A dedicated handheld, like the Nintendo Switch Lite, might in some ways provide players with new conveniences when using cloud services. In any event, there is undoubtedly a demand for this product, and we are eagerly anticipating its arrival. In order to fulfill the exciting promise of gaming from the cloud, Logitech G and Tencent Games are dedicated to ensuring that the quality of experience comes together smoothly. Data center servers are used in cloud gaming to deliver video games to users.  Games on PCs or consoles don't need to be downloaded or installed. Instead, players engage with games locally on mobile devices while they are being rendered and played on distant servers. “Logitech G’s leadership in PC and console gaming gear make them an ideal partner to help us realize the vision of bringing a better gaming experience to gamers around the globe,” said Daniel Wu, general manager of Tencent Games Smart Solution Innovation Lab.” “Today marks the start of a new opportunity for our companies to further push the frontiers of gaming devices.”
